 Adoption Policy

We never let an un-neutered male and female go together, we will let an un-neutered male go with a baby boy. We don’t allow single piggies to go either, they need other piggie company.

It is our policy to carry out a home check, just to see where the piggies will be homed, please don’t think of this as an inspection of your home, this is to make sure the piggies have a good home of their own.

You agree to provide a suitable hutch minimum 140cm x 60cm, single storey, (we will not rehome to double storey) for a pair of piggies, a run for daily exercise, plenty of hay for bedding and for munching on, good quality dried food and fresh vegetables daily.  See care sheet for list. We will always recommend you keep your guinea pigs indoors as a part of the family and not in a hutch outside, whatever the season.

You agree to check the eyes, length of nails and ears on a regular basis and if the animal shows any signs of illness to contact us or get them to a vet within 24 hours.

And that you will be happy for us to pay a follow up visit to the piggies once they are settled.

The rescue would be very glad of a donation for each pig, a suggested minimum amount of £25 per pig or if you re-home a bonded pair £45. We would appreciate £60 for a neutered boy.  The cost of neutering a boy is £60.00 + medicines if required.

We also retain the right to demand the return of any animal that we have re-homed should it be found to be living in inhumane conditions, that the animal is being denied veterinary treatment, that is being deliberately neglected or enduring cruelty or the animal is being bred from.

We are very busy with caring for the piggies but are always happy to talk to anyone about piggie issues or needs.  You do not have to have one of our piggies in order to seek advice on any piggie matters, piggies are our passion.
